Thanks, Zen, but problem solved. Methought that the pages had to be formatted and forwarded. They're available if required for verification - I did not know about the honour system. Al

That's good.
We don't have to worry about verification until the end of the month :)

They're not needed until the 25th - then at some stage before the 30th they have to be uploaded to the site in order to secure a win. If using a script writing program such as Celtx, you just save the file as a pdf and upload that. It's all very easy :)

RE: Progress |
I have one page!
I had some problems getting started. I'm tying to use Celtx but every time I try to write in it, my main character walks off in a huff. I finally decided to use Word to "create" with and then copy it to Celtx for the formatting. It's not the most productive way to do things.
Many years ago, I had some Word templates that the BBC put out. I wish I could find them again.

I know what you mean! I looked at Celtx but came back to my lovely World template. It's a tribute to procrastination and general clover munching really... but I mucked around for ages with the formatting. It's easy to use, pretty and has keyboard shortcuts and automation to make formatting character, dialogue, text, scene headings and parenthesis styles a breeze. I can send you a copy?

RE: Progress |
Will it work in Office XP?
I probably could work out my own shortcuts etc but I can see that taking up all my writing time :)

RE: Progress |
Uhm... Office XP. Do you mean Microsoft Office on Windows XP? In which case, yes, that will work fine.
I hear you about the shortcuts... that's why I'm offering this version with them all done already :) Have assigned F key shortcuts to the styles for Character, dialogue, etc. Automation means that when you press the carriage return after a 'character' style, it automatically goes to dialogue. A carriage return after dialogue returns you to "text" format.
You're welcome to it, but if you think it will side track you from the creative process, I very much understand! That's why I'm staying clear of Celtx for the moment - don't want to have to learn something new while I'm supposed to be WRITING!
Good luck!

MS Office 2002 :)
I guess it won't work. Been playing with another Word template I found online but that shortcuts don't work. Still I'm too tired to write now, so I'm not wasting writing time.

RE: Progress |
Xenith,
I know the ones you mean, they were on the BBC Writer's room website. They have recently redone the site and they don't seem to have templates anymore, just samples, and a few software options.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/send-a-script/formatting-your-script
I'm pretty sure I have the templates downloaded and saved at home, I'll take a look tonight and post them here.
Oh, and for the count - as of the end of day two I am on 10 pages.

12 pages here. It would be more, but because I have such a massive cast list I wound up having to make a 'dramatis personae' index for them all and it's taking for-smegging ever to finish. About half of it is actual script, though.

Xenith,
Found them! I hope this was the file you were looking for, it is a template macro that gets added on to Word and lets you select the type of script you're writing. I only have the PC version. I've uploaded it to MediaFire as a zip file, it's been scanned and is clean.
http://www.mediafire.com/?4rzg85n5ut7urc4
Once unzipped, the Script Smart folder needs to be saved in: C:\Windows\application data\microsoft\templates\
Or wherever your version of Windows saves Microsoft templates. The what I did was create a desktop shortcut to the Script Smart Gold 2 file in that folder, double clicking on that shortcut opens my Word with the Script type selection box.
I'm using Word 2010 and it's working fine for me.
-Helen.

RE: Progress |
Thanks for the offer, and JehniT too, but I've realised I can't write in the standard format. (Can't get past the idea that I'm typing words on a page to actually write/create.) So I'm using my own format that can be converted easily to standard format if I need to but resembles regular fiction writing enough that I can do it.
After struggling for 3 days to wrote anything, I just wrote 2 pages in 10 minutes.
So offers appreciated but maybe later.

40/100 over here. Absolutely ruddy chuffed with myself!
Even if my characters are ignoring my carefully planned out plot...
Hell, as long as I get to 100 with some semblance of a story, I can fix their mess later!

Well, I've only got 17 pages, but I'm sick at the moment and yesterday I had literally no free time thanks to Tafe class and work. BUT the Tafe holidays just started so I'll have a lot of time come Monday onward.

17 still puts you near enough on target! You only need 3 pages a day and if you whack out more than that, it gives you a little leeway on the days either side.
You'll bang 'em out no trouble during the holidays - I write more when I'm ill anyway... must be all the painkillers and nasal sprays when I catch cold sending me loopy >.<

Still, at least I'll hit target soon. That's always a nice feeling.

So much catching up to do ;_;
I thought I'd have lots of time this week, but suddenly it's already Wednesday and I've barely had time for even my TAFE homework! Plus I have work tonight. Gahhh.
